AirTrack
Live Snapshot
A quick read on current conditions from the nearest AirTrack station, plus the pollutant and weather readings behind the number.
7-DAY OUTLOOK
A short-range forecast so you can plan outdoor time in advance, not just react to today's reading.
UNDERSTANDING THE NUMBER
The Air Quality Index (AQI) turns a mix of pollutant measurements into a single, easy-to-read score. The lower the number, the cleaner the air — and the higher it climbs, the more it's worth changing your plans, especially if you're young, older, pregnant, or living with a respiratory or heart condition.
AirTrack calculates AQI from live pollutant readings at each station and refreshes it continuously, so the score on your dashboard reflects the air right outside — not a regional average from miles away.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
AQI moves for reasons — here are the four biggest contributors AirTrack stations typically pick up on.
Transportation
Vehicle exhaust is one of the largest contributors to national greenhouse gas output, and it's often the biggest swing factor in day-to-day urban air quality.
🚗
Fossil-fuel power plants and industrial facilities release particulates and gases that can linger over a city for hours or days.
🌾
Agriculture
Fertilizer use, pesticide application, and crop burning all release fine particles and gases that add up across a growing season.
🗑️
Waste Management
Landfills release methane as waste breaks down, and open burning of trash adds smoke and toxic byproducts directly into local air.
